Valentine’s Origami: A Simple Heart

Just in time for Valentine’s Day… learn how to fold an origami heart! Red heart This thing is basically fool-proof, people! You can hardly go wrong! So, what is stopping you from trying this out and impressing your valentine?

What do you think will impress your special person more? A tacky plastic heart that you bought at the cafe on your way to work? Or a paper heart that you can confess (with romantic dashing-ness) you made yourself? Let’s get started.

You will need:
One square of paper (red or pink-coloured, obviously).

Fold in both the diagonal lines.

Rotate 90 degrees, so that your paper is orientated the same as shown above.

Fold down the top tip so that it lies on the centre point of the square.

Fold up the bottom tip so that it lies in the centre of the top.

Take hold of the left hand edge and start folding it upwards in the direction of the top of the model. The edge will end up lying on the vertical centre line of the model.

Like so.

Repeat on the right hand side.

Turn the model over.

Fold the left and right tips inward. There is no specific place you have to fold them to – just fold them as far as looks good to you, and make sure it is symmetrical!

Fold down the two tips at the top… and turn over the model again…

That was simple, wasn’t it? Now go impress someone. Winking smile

I’ll be back in a bit – tomorrow – with a more complicated heart for you to fold!

Happy folding!
